Here’s the view from the top of my hike. I climbed this mountain two days in a row.
Tucson, Arizona
All I had to do was walk out the door of my room at the Loews Ventana Canyon and I was at the trailhead. Spectacular!
I took this shot with my Blackberry. I can’t wait to see how the photos came out on my Nikon!
Beautiful!

Nice picture! It will be interesting to see the results from your new Nikon (compare and contrast?).
Have you taken your photography classes yet? Have you determined whether or not you’re going to shoot and save .jpg files directly from your camera, or if you’re going to shoot in camera RAW, then do some post-processing in Photoshop? With these new cameras and the software available, you can get some amazing images with just a little bit of post-processing (for example, brightening pictures, increasing contrast, removing haze, etc.). Not that your images will need a lot of massaging, but sometimes that extra little kick can help to make the image more like the way you remember seeing it with your eyes (the human eye has an amazing ability to filter out stuff and make things seem much more colorful than the resulting photo sometimes recorded by the camera).
Looking forward to some Nikon pictures!

Thanks! Clearly, I have so much to learn! I’ve barely gotten a handle on aperture and shutter speed. Once I learn how to use my camera well (I’ve had one class), it looks like learning the software will be next. Until then, you’ll see photos in the raw. Or at most, cropped. I hope I got some good ones. I took so many, there’s bound to be a few keepers.

Looks amazing! Thre is nothing quite like hiking in the desert…so quiet, except for me screaming shrilly when I think I’ve stepped on a snake. That happens a lot.

Luckily, I saw no snakes. I did see lots of bunnies, and gophers, and roadrunners, and birds. But I guess roadrunners are birds.

I’m glad you saw cute nature and not snakes, as they are quite scary.

Bunnies, roadrunners, and gophers I can deal with – but prefer to avoid the snakes – glad you did, too! This looks like a gorgeous area – jealous. jealous here on the coastal plain!
